About Josh
Josh Hoch has been with MWI since 2001 and currently serves as Director of Ombuds & Mediation Services. He oversees MWI's Organizational Ombuds Panel and Conference Ombuds practice while continuing to serve directly as an organizational ombuds for clients.
Josh has provided ombuds services for organizations in construction, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and other industries. He currently serves as an organizational ombuds for DAVIS Construction and has previously served on ombuds teams supporting a national healthcare organization, a Colorado ski resort, and a leading Boston construction company.
Beyond his direct ombuds work, Josh partners with organizations to design organizational ombuds programs and conference ombuds services that provide employees, attendees, and stakeholders with an impartial, confidential, informal, and independent resource for addressing workplace concerns.
Approach
Josh believes organizations are strongest when employees have a trusted place to discuss concerns early, before they grow into larger organizational issues.
His work emphasizes practical problem solving, thoughtful listening, conflict coaching, facilitated conversations, and identifying opportunities to strengthen organizational culture while preserving the confidentiality of individual visitors.
Drawing on decades of mediation experience, Josh helps individuals navigate difficult conversations while providing organizational leaders with valuable insight into systemic trends affecting the workplace.
Leadership & Experience
In addition to leading MWI's ombuds practice, Josh manages MWI's mediation panels for the MBTA and Boston Public Schools and serves as MWI's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) liaison for workplace and higher education mediation referrals nationwide.
He designs and delivers conference ombuds services for associations and professional organizations throughout North America and conducts advanced mediation and dispute resolution training for clients including the Executive Office of the Massachusetts Trial Court.
Josh is a member of the International Ombuds Association (IOA) and the East Coast Ombuds Group (ECOG).
