General Motors Request for Mediation

Submit the Deposit

Pay the $1,000 deposit using one of the available payment methods.

Information and Documents Needed

  • Request for Mediation: Describe the facts involved in the dispute and explain why you are seeking mediation. Your response may not exceed 5,000 characters.
  • Audit Summary: If the results of an audit are in dispute, upload the one-page debit summary from GM Audit Services as a PDF.
  • Filing Deposit: A $1,000 deposit is required and will be applied as a retainer against mediation fees and expenses.

Representation by Counsel

Mediation is a non-adversarial process that gives the dealer and GM an opportunity to resolve matters in a business-to-business setting. Either party may bring legal counsel. GM’s practice is to bring counsel only if the dealer chooses to do so.

Mediation Costs

Most mediations cost approximately $3,000 to $5,000 per party, plus or minus other potential expenses. Costs are divided equally between the dealership and General Motors.

The deposit is applied toward mediation fees and expenses. To pay online, visit MWI’s PayPal page and select “Send.”

      If you have elected to have legal counsel in attendance, your mediation will be held in Detroit, MI.
      A $1,000 deposit is required with each mediation request. This deposit will be applied to the final cost of mediation.
