Mediation Information for CompEAP
Members of CompEAP are entitled to discounted mediation services through MWI mediators. The services are designed to help HR, ER, employees, and other interested parties resolve conflict effectively and productively.
Mediation
Mediation is a process in which parties agree to work together, with the assistance of a trained neutral, to explore their respective interests and generate options for resolving their dispute. The mediator helps to facilitate communication and has no power to impose a resolution. Mediation is a flexible process that allows the parties to discuss, in confidence, any issues they choose to address and determine the outcome.

Workplace & Employment Mediation
–When the HR manager has “tried everything” and is beginning to feel that their neutrality is in question
–When a person has a problem with their supervisor, manager, or another employee and it is interfering with their productivity and level of morale
–When the issue involves an unfair review, unwelcomed feedback, unfair treatment, or perceived discrimination
Talking Points for Clinicians
MWI’s goal is to provide HR, ER, and other professionals with the following:
- Information about the benefits of the mediation process
- Case assessment to determine how mediation could be used to resolve their employment case and how long it should take
- Ongoing support for each party once the case has gone to mediation
- MWI draws from a talented pool of mediators and offers flexibility in scheduling sessions, both in terms of location and appointment times.
What do members get at no cost?
- 30-minute initial consultation with a MWI case manager and/or the mediator so member can have questions answered and learn more about mediation.
- Ongoing support from the MWI case manager, throughout the case.
What do members get at a discount? CompEAP members receive a 15% discount off mediation services.
Divorce and Family Mediation
–Where a person mentions “divorce” or “separation” as potential solution to their martial problem
–When the employee needs to work out a post-divorce issue with their ex, such as, child support, visitation, or other scheduling issues
–When a person mentions a problem with another family member, for example, when siblings are having a difficult time discussing how to care for an elderly parent or how to divide property or debt

MWI’s goal is to provide HR, ER, and other professionals with the following:
- With so much at stake, it is important for members to make informed decisions. MWI mediators will guide members through a checklist of the topics that need to be discussed and decided on in order to obtain a divorce.
- When all necessary topics have been covered and an agreement has been reached, the mediator will draft the appropriate documents. Couples typically spend 6 – 10 hours working with a mediator in three to five sessions. MWI draws from a talented pool of mediators and offers flexibility in scheduling sessions, both in terms of location and appointment times.
What do members get at no cost?
- 30-minute initial consultation so both parties get their questions answered and learn more about how divorce mediation can help them.
- Ongoing support from, Josh Hoch, MWI Case Manager, throughout the case.
What do we get at a discount? CompEAP members receive a 15% discount off MWI’s hourly rate of $350.
Are there additional discounts? MWI is committed to making mediation affordable to everyone. If the combined family income is less than $90,000, an additional discount is available to members.
Other Disputes for Mediation
CompEAP members may be experiencing other types of conflict and mediation may be appropriate. MWI’s mediator also provide mediation services in the areas of: landlord-tenant, real estate, construction, land use, and more.
