Courthouse Mediation Procedures

Follow these court-specific steps when conducting an in-person mediation at Boston Municipal Court Central Division.

Step 1

Pre-Mediation

The Civil Clerk’s Office is located on the sixth floor. Check in with the Clerk’s Office when you arrive to learn which courtroom requires mediation assistance.

Step 2

During Mediation

Mediation rooms are available throughout the courthouse, including small rooms inside Courtrooms C and D.

If those rooms are unavailable, mediation rooms near other courtrooms may be used. If the rooms are locked, ask the clerk where you and the parties should meet.

Step 3

Post-Mediation

After the mediation ends, return all paperwork and the case folder to the clerk. Scan or take a clear photograph of the completed paperwork for MWI’s records.

Before leaving, check whether there are other cases whose parties would like to participate in mediation.

Add the case information and upload the paperwork under the court case in the portal. If you have trouble uploading the documents or mediated multiple cases during the same session, email the scans to courtmediation@mwi.org.
