About Cris
LaCrisia “Cris” Gilbert, MDR, is a member of MWI’s Organizational Ombuds Panel and has served as both an organizational and advocate ombuds.
Her ombuds career began in 2012 as an advocate ombuds in the State of Texas, where she advocated for residents in long-term care and assisted living facilities while working closely with regulatory agencies, facility leadership, and individual residents.
Cris brings more than 30 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution as a mediator, facilitator, professor, trainer, and conflict resolution practitioner.
Approach
Cris approaches conflict as an opportunity for growth, learning, and improved relationships. Her work emphasizes listening, understanding, and helping people identify practical pathways toward resolution.
As a Certified CINERGY Conflict Management Coach, she helps individuals strengthen their conflict management skills while supporting organizations in creating healthier workplace cultures.
Her experience spans informal conflict resolution, facilitation, mediation, coaching, and systems-level organizational improvement, allowing her to support both individual visitors and institutional leaders.
Background
Throughout her career, Cris has resolved conflicts across a wide range of settings, including family disputes, civil court matters, workplace concerns, and organizational conflicts.
She has served as an Organizational Ombuds within a university environment, assisting faculty, staff, and students while also training compliance investigators in mediation, conflict resolution, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Cris has also worked closely with Human Resources and Compliance departments as a facilitator supporting informal resolution processes and workplace concerns.
In addition, she serves on two campus Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, including a President’s DEI Council and a Social Justice, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
