About Bathabile
Bathabile K.S. Mthombeni is an experienced Organizational Ombuds, mediator, consultant, and coach who discovered her passion for alternative dispute resolution while attending law school in 2004.
She accepted her first ombuds position in 2006 and has served as University Ombudsman for Binghamton University since 2015.
Bathabile works with individuals and organizations to strengthen communication, resolve conflict, and create healthier workplace and learning environments where people can thrive.
Approach
Bathabile believes that conflict can be a catalyst for growth, understanding, and stronger relationships when approached thoughtfully and constructively.
Through ombuds services, leadership coaching, facilitation, and dialogue processes, she helps people develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate difficult conversations and complex workplace dynamics.
She takes particular joy in helping visitors and clients communicate more effectively, resolve their differences, and find the highest expression of their best selves.
Background
In addition to her ombuds practice, Bathabile provides DEIB policy development and implementation services for schools and other organizations.
She also delivers leadership coaching, facilitation, racial intelligence coaching, racial mindset coaching, training, and dialogue facilitation services for leadership teams and DEIB committees.
An accomplished educator and workshop facilitator, Bathabile has taught negotiation, ombuds practice, conflict management, and dispute resolution at Binghamton University, Columbia University, and John Jay College.
She earned her A.B. in Sociology, cum laude, from Princeton University, her J.D. from Columbia Law School, and her M.S. in Leadership and Organizational Development, along with a coaching certificate, from the University of Texas at Dallas.
