1What is the ombuds resource?
The ombuds team provides employees with an independent, confidential, impartial, and informal resource to manage, address, and surface concerns at work. This resource is provided by an independent third-party team of skilled professional ombuds who will listen and help individuals think through possible solutions to work-related challenges. Information about the ombuds team members can be found here.
The ombuds resource is:
- Independent. The ombuds team operates outside of DAVIS.
- Confidential. Identities are kept private unless permission is given or there is an imminent risk of serious physical harm.
- Impartial. The ombuds advocates for fair process, not for individuals or the organization.
- Informal. The ombuds does not participate in grievances, investigations, or lawsuits.
2What does an ombuds do?
An ombuds listens to concerns and serves as a thought partner to help visitors move forward productively.

All DAVIS employees with work-related concerns. Responses are typically within one business day.
5What does the ombuds resource not do?
- Advocate for individuals

- Serve as a witness
- Provide legal advice
- Accept formal notice
Talking with the ombuds does not constitute formal notice to DAVIS.
6Will my visit cause change?
The ombuds supports individuals and provides anonymized trend reporting to leadership. The ombuds cannot mandate action.
7Are there limits to confidentiality?
Yes. If there is an imminent threat of serious harm or suspected abuse, disclosure may be required.
8Who are the ombuds team members?
The MWI Ombuds Team for DAVIS consists of Nnena Odim and Josh Hoch. Both team members have many years of experience as ombuds and mediators, have been trained by the International Ombuds Association, and follow the IOA Standards of Practice. Learn more here.
9Can I choose my ombuds?
Yes. You may select the team member you prefer.
10Will others know I contacted the ombuds?
No. Identities are not shared. Data is aggregated and anonymized.
11How do I prepare?
