MWI Mediation Training Overview

MWI has been a leader in professional mediation training since 1994. Here’s why:

  • MWI’s Training Team:    MWI’s training faculty are full-time professional mediators who bring decades of experience to each program having trained hundreds of mediators and having mediated thousands of business, workplace and other types of cases.
  • MWI’s Client Base:    MWI provides mediation, training and ombuds services to clients such as General Motors, Bose Corporation, Coca-Cola, BMW, and others. MWI’s clients choose MWI for results with our seasoned panel of mediators and our trainers who deliver impactful mediation and negotiation training programs.
  • Opportunities to mediate following training:    Unlike many other training providers, MWI offers volunteer opportunities for participants to grow their mediation skill-set by mediating actual cases in court following successful completion of an MWI Mediation Training Program. Click here for more information.
  • MWI Mentoring and Advanced Training Programs:    MWI offers a range of customized mentor and advanced training programs that focus on workplace and divorce as well as how to successfully market your mediation practice.

Each MWI’s mediation training meets the training requirement outlined in the Massachusetts Confidentiality Statute (MGL ch233 sec 23C) and Rule 8(c)(i) of the MA Supreme Judicial Court’s Uniform Rules on Dispute Resolution. MWI’s mediation training programs satisfy the mediation training program requirement for applicants for inclusion on the Category V fee-generating appointment list for Parenting Coordinators and are “Part 146 Approved” by the New York State Unified Court System ADR Office.

Foundational and Advanced Mediation Training Programs:

For those looking to take a mediation training for the first time, MWI’s Forty-Hour Mediation Training is offered online via Zoom on weekdays in May each year.

Aspiring mediators need to do more than take a mediation training to become a mediator – they need to mediate cases. MWI offers opportunities for MWI mediation trainees to grow their mediation skill-set by mediating actual cases in court following successful completion of MWI’s Mediation Training Programs.

MWI’s Housing and Eviction Program is designed for mediators interested in helping tenants and landlords resolve housing and eviction disputes. This program is for mediators who have completed at least 30-hours of mediation training and have mediated at least five small claims cases.

MWI’s Refresher Mediation Program is an eight-hour training program designed to refresh, recharge, and prepare mediators to effectively facilitate the mediation process.

These monthly seminars provide practitioners with an opportunity to strengthen their ADR skills and build their practice by learning from top-notch presenters and interacting with colleagues.

Top companies and institutions such as Coca-Cola, Bose, General Motors, and the Fletcher School at Tufts University partner with MWI to prepare participants to become effective mediators.
